Biography

Lakes United winger came to Easts in 1970 and played in the club's grand final team in 1972 and in the win over C’bury in the 1974 premiership decider. Porter, who also spent time as a fullback, moved to P’matta the following year and was selected in Australia's World Series squad. A try-scorer in the Eels' grand final loss to Manly in 1976 Porter used his height to great effect and was able to scale over his opponents and gather in 'bombs' put up by John Peard. He also played in P’matta's grand final draw and replay the following year but retired at the end of the 1977 season to work in club administration.
