Biography
Strapping utility forward, a reserve in the champion Roosters’ team that won the premiership in 1975, saw out his playing career with the Sharks. O’Reilly made one appearance for NSW in a non-State of Origin match in 1981.

BIG DES as we called him at BONDI,but he played for clovelly and was outstanding! A tough toiler in the BIG ARENA, THANKS m8 for all those years of enjoyment.

VALE DES - A TRUE GENTLEMAN TO THE END

I went to school with Des,as far back as primary school. He was always a champion sportsman.I am very proud to have played rugby with him at Waverley College in the FirstXV . By the way Des was caption. He was a great bloke and an total gentleman never missing a school reunion even though he at times did not feel the best. It was always great to catch up with him over a beer. He will be sadly missed by many.

I had the pleasure of captaining the Waverley 2nd XV in 1971 which Des was a team member. He played a big part in the team being undefeated that season
