After his football career, Bulmer moved into the textile industry. During WWI his mills were producing 1 million yards of khaki cloth for the British army, every 10 weeks.
He was served on the Wool Textile Control Board and the Wool Statistical Committee. Bulmer was knighted in 1922 as recognition for his public services.
