Biography
Wide Bay prop played for Toowoomba in 1961 before going to Theodore where he represented Queensland against NSW and Great Britain in 1962. Wittenberg made his Test debut in the 1966 Ashes series against the visiting Lions before being involved in a bitter struggle with the QRL, which blocked his move to play with St George. Wittenberg sat out the 1967 season, forfeiting a place on the Kangaroo Tour, before joining the Dragons in 1968. Wittenberg went on to play three seasons in Sydney, representing NSW from 1968-70 and playing for Australia in the World Cup in 1968 and in Tests against NZ (1969) and Great Britain (1970).
